We’ve captured two Immigrant Breast Nest veterans at the top of their game on “New Animal.” Masters of mutant songcraft, Mercy Choir and Xrin Arms showcase their talents on this split E.P. Neither collaboration nor experimental fusion, “New Animal” is an all out sound-clash; the listener wins.

Welcome to “Broken Memory” by David Morneau, Immigrant Breast Nest’s composer-in-residence. Although born from the limited sonic palette of chip-tunes, Morneau is able to coax delightfully unexpected results from the familiar 8-bit chirps and blips in each of these six pieces. Immediately dissolving our preconceptions, “The Black Hallway” leads us to other strange locales, brutal and broken terroir, terminating finally with “Rue D’Auseil” which riddles blips with funk and thumps. Each track title references H.P. Lovecraft’s story The Music of Erich Zann in which the titular hero plays his intense, strange music to keep the demons at bay. It’s apropos, “Broken Memory” is radically creative music for staving off the abyss.

Speak Onion follows up 2012’s The Illusion of Depth with another 4-track collection of drum’n’noise that will set up shop in your ears to re-arrange your nervous system. Kick drums pound through violent breaks, caustic basses writhe under eerie drones, and twitchy melodies ratchet the tension up to the breaking point. Noise gives way to signals, signals form patterns, and patterns formulate increasingly dense structures that collapse back into noise. Swallower compels frenzied movement, even as it closes in the walls and sucks the air from the room.

Grindthieves premieres the video for Speak Onion’s Wakeless, the first new track from the forthcoming Swallower album. The video was created by Bruzed, who has been performing live visuals along with Speak Onion’s recent live performances. It is a visual reflection the chaos and dark atmosphere inherent in industrial and breakcore for which Speak Onion has become known.
Swallower will be released via Immigrant Breast Nest on February 26, 2013.

Welcome to Barksdale, the third album from porch techno pioneer Blind Moany Wat. Recorded in a collapsing basement in North Carolina, these tracks hallucinate a digital world choked by vines and infested with lizards, marrying doomed lap-steel figures to thoroughly twisted electronics. Rising up from the dirt and reaching down from the sky to work an alchemy in the ear.

It’s here. The End. And whether it’s fiery and violent, or quick like turning out the light, Elevator Machine Room brings us the perfect sound track in The Morning After. Experimental soundscapes, deep bass, and spoken word usher through the final steps of this year-long eschatological path, and make it enjoyable, too.
Since today is our last day on Earth, we at Immigrant Breast Nest want to say that the B’ak’tun Waning project has been an absolute pleasure to work on, with each artist approaching the project in a fresh and inventive way and creating absolutely brilliant work. Particular thanks go to David Morneau for curating, organizing, and inventing the project. As pre-apocalyptic rituals go, we couldn’t have asked for better.

Immigrant Breast Nest is proud to release the latest beat collection from Xrin Arms. The aptly titled “HWY” evokes a hip-hop inflected road trip through the American Southwest, a Spaghetti Western where the spaghetti has been laced with cough syrup. This is music that puts you in a trance and wakes you up in a different time zone; another successful fusion from Xrin Arms, a true master of left field sonics.
